Content:
The subject matter of ‘Strange Meeting’ is the pity of war. War was an outrage against humanity. According to Owen himself, ‘My subject is War, and the pity of War.’
Lines 1-10: The protagonist’s soul or the poet himself, dream-like, imagines having died (‘out of battle I escaped’) and descended ‘some profound dull tunnel’
Evaluation:
The following questions are asked:
a. Read the poem one after another.
b. Discuss the themes of the poem.

Discuss the poem as a war poem.
