Topic: The Tempest- The life and times of William Shakespeare
Behavioral objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

2. Relate the life and carrier of Shakespeare.
Content:
Shakespeare’s date of birth is controversial. Some believed he was born on the 23rd April, 1564 while believed he was born on the 26th April, 1564. He was the son of a wealthy wool trader and his mother was Mary Arden, daughter of a family of a small land owners. He was the third child of the parents but the eldest son. He was educated at the Strafford Grammar school. soon, his father’s business collapsed and the twelve years old Shakespeare had to leave school to assist the father , being the eldest son. He obtained a license to marry Ann Hathaway. Ann was eight years older than Shakespeare. They had a daughter, Susana, and a twin boy and girl, Harnett and Judith.

Topic: The Tempest- The Plot

Content:
Prospero and his daughter are thrown into an Island. The daughter has never seen any other human being except his father. He sees some magic arts on the Island which he keeps in the cave where he lives with his daughter. The Island is enchanted by a witch called Syncorax who died shortly before the arrival of Prospero on the Island. He uses the power to get what he wants. He uses Ariel to cause a storm on the sea. Ariel brings Ferdinand to safety and later brings him to Prospero. Ferdinand develops a relationship with Miranda. Anthonio and the king are brought to Prospero and apologize for their misconduct. Prospero forgives them and they all return to Milan escorted by Ariel.

Content:
Prospero who is now invisible to Ferdinand and Miranda, witnesses Ferdinand and Miranda expressing their deep love for each other in words that rival Romeo and Juliet in their tenderness. Ferdinand realizing he is witnessing a truly a rare meeting of hearts, approves of Ferdinand for his daughter. The scene ends with Ferdinand taking Miranda for his wife. Prospero Is pleased but must now leave to attend to matters before supper.

Bottle in hand, Stephano, Trinculo and Caliban continue on their merry way together. Stephano starts getting delusions of grandeur, which Caliban blindly follows. Trinculo thinks Caliban is being foolish to follow Stephano so blindly. Caliban succeeds in convincing Stephano into killing Prospero and taking over the island and suggests several gruesome ways of killing Prospero. Ariel lures the group away with his entrancing sounds…
